Ubuntu 7.10 0

October 18th, 2007.. Sweet, I hope the forums survive the influx of traffic :)

UbuntuForums I will miss you! 0

Well sorta, this month the vbulletin license, domains and ownership of the UbuntuForums has been transfered over to Canonical. It’s been a long time coming and a very interesting ride I will not forget, I will continue to serve my 2yr term as chairman on the Forums Council.  Since the founding of the UbuntuForums in October 2004 it has grown to be one of the greatest Linux/Distribution forums on the Internet and I have learned alot about running a forum and dealing with people in a forum atmosphere. Anyways, to the future..

ubuntu network up :) 0

That was quick!

ubuntu network down :( 0

I guess the network over at canonical is down affecting all the ubuntu related sites including the ubuntu forums. Complete bummer, I hope it’s now down to long.

Forum Council 0

After about a year or so of frustrating phone calls, insane email and alot of swearing (mostly me) the Ubuntu Forums now have a Forum Council team and some established credibility in the community. Well, I hope it works out that way.

The Forum Council document was approved last week at the CC meeting.

Things we have established so far:

  • We will hold meetings the second Tuesday of each month
  • We need to find a secretary/note taker for the meetings
  • A working forum governance policy
  • Forums for discussion on topics to be discussed at future FC meetings.

I am eager to see how this process will play itself out and how it will be interpreted in the future.
